Prayer – The Power of Prayer – I have always believed in the power of prayer. I also know my will is not God’s. But there is one story that, for me, conveys the power of prayer.
I searched (once again) for this story that Andy and I saw on TV many years ago. I have told it and thought about this for many years.
It is the story of a young family who moves to a new town, and the day they are moving into the house, the young daughter is in the front yard and is abducted.
The father is a minister, and his new assignment is in this new town, and they have only been in town for a few hours.
I cannot recall the details or timing, but this happened over several hours. What I do remember is that there was a “prayer chain.” All of the townspeople were on alert for the little girl, and everyone prayed.
There were two women having lunch in a local restaurant and heard of the abduction. They decided they needed to pray, RIGHT THEN.
As they prayed, for some “unknown reason,” both were “moved” to scream out “STOP,” and at the same time, a jogger was running across a bridge; he heard someone yell at him to STOP. So, he did.
He looked into the somewhat shallow river below and saw the body of a child underwater, somehow weighted down.
He called for help, and rescue came; the little girl was resuscitated, hospitalized, and lived without any brain damage.
It was probably springtime, and the water was the perfect temperature for a child to survive if found quickly.
Stories like this one are many. You can explain why the little girl was able to survive the drowning.
What you can’t explain is the jogger hearing “STOP.”
I question most everything, but I never question the message or the power of prayer.
The Back Story
I searched for the color of angels, and Marian Blue came up. So, the font color in the Angel praying image is as close as I could get to Marian Blue.
A few years ago, I was flying back from Santa Ana, CA. It was a beautiful October morning, and as I looked out the plane window, clear as day, I saw the number 7 in the sky. The contrails had designed the perfect number 7.
In all my years, I had never seen anything like that. I thought, is that a message? Oh sure, Ann, contrails in the sky would be a message.
That night, I went to the Akron Civic Theater to see a Well Known Medium. While I am interested in her stories and obvious gift, I am skeptical at times. That’s just me.
We were in the 2nd section on the first floor of the theater and the first or 2nd row. I believe the first section was for her fan club; I was at times within about 30 feet from her as she stood in the last rows of the first section.
Sometime in the day, I decided that the number 7 meant something, so I would have that in my mind when I went to her show.
While The Medium was standing in the back and about 30 feet from where we were sitting, she said she felt the number 7. If she ever goes back to the video and looks, she will notice she only thought the number 7 would come from her fans…… She only looked our way quickly; she had difficulty identifying who could relate to the number 7.
And there I was. With number 7 in the sky.
Recently I decided to see what the number 7 means and if you search you will come up with all kinds of things. Here is a link to Christian links on Number 7.
